Hot August Nights

The annual event of Hot August Nightshappens every year starting on July 30 and will go through until August 8 in Reno, Nevada. With this event being considered the largest classic car and nostalgia festival in the entire USA, this year’s event should prove to be filled with fun days and nights of remembering America in her more simpler times through the classic cars, 50’s and 60’s concerts, a sock hop and more. There is expected to be a crowd of more than 800,000 folks flocking to the event to check out the classic cherry cars and enjoy the rock and roll music. Events
For visitors at Hot August Nights, they can expect to see thousands of beautiful classic cars, show-n-shines, cruising and many free concerts that will be featuring music from the 50’s and 60’s with top entertainers. There will also be the Silver Car Auctions, the HAN swap meet, sock hop/prom, a parade on Sunday, Circus Circus and a hula hoop contest for the Guinness Book of World Records. For shoppers, they can find some unique items at the Big Boy Toy Store and of course the Silver Car Auction along with great deals at the swap meet. Venues Participating
Hot August Nights starts up in South Lake Tahoe this year with free concerts, cruises, sock hop, show-n-shines, vendors and poker walks. The events will start on July 30 and continue through until August 1st and then will move to Reno and Sparks to continue on with the festival. Both Reno and Sparks will host activities at local venues. Restaurants, casinos and adult entertainment establishments will be in on the fun providing great service and fun times for the expected crowds. Events will take place at the Bonanza Casino, Atlantis Resort Casino, Grand Sierra Resort, Reno Events Center, Circus Circus Hotel and Casino, Peppermill Hotel Casino, Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Victorian Square in Sparks and Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center.

Free Entertainment
For nightly entertainment during Hot August Nights a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will be included along with the Herman Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Danny and the Juniors and former lead singer of The Platters, Sonny Turner. Other musical entertainment will be performed by The Al McKay Allstars, The Buckinghams and Jay and the Americans. There will also be a tribute to The Beach Boys. Concerts are free and will be taking place at different venues. Concerts are scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m.

Classic Car Activities
For folks who want to enter their classic car into any of the car activities, which include show-n-shines, poker run, nightly cruisings and the parade, registered cars must be 1972 and older that are American vehicles, either cars or pickup trucks, emergency vehicles or European classics. This year’s registration is filled, but if interested in participating in another year’s event is sure to apply as soon as possible as there is a 2 to 3 year waiting list. For show-n-shines, cash prizes will be awarded as well as trophies. The poker run will also award cash prizes. For those who are registered, they should check-in at the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa between 4pm and 8pm on Thursday, July 29 or on Friday, July 30 between 8am and 7pm. Poker runs are one of the events at Hot August Nights where registered participants have to go to different checkpoint locations and draw a playing card at each site. The winner is the person with the best poker hand at the finish of the run. There is a time limit to the event. Those who want to participate in this event need to register at the MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa between 10 am and 6 pm on Friday, July 30.
